The Blessed Sacrament stained-glass window
Another stained-glass window, depicting the Most Blessed Sacrament, from the recently closed Polish Church of St. Laurentius in Philadelphia has been installed at our Shrine!
This window has been placed behind the Altar of Our Lady of Czestochowa in the lower church. You may ask, why behind the altar?
The reason to install this beautiful stained-glass window behind the altar is to invite the faithful to prayerfully circle the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is an ancient custom (circumambulation) to walk around (or to knee walk) around an image of Jesus, Mary, or one of the saints. This tradition is strongly cultivated in the original Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Poland. So whenever the Sanctuary gate is open, we invite you to prayerfully circle the altar and present your prayer intentions to the Lord through Mary’s intercession!
Thank you to all who have contributed! Few more windows are to be installed in the lower church in the near future. We still need your support in financing this expensive project. You can help us to preserve these beautiful signs of the church heritage by donating for this cause on our website:
