The joy of the Nativity of the Lord has been expressed and celebrated at our Shrine in song and music during the Christmas Concert, that took place in St. Anne’s Chapel on Sunday, December 30, 2018. Carols and hymns were sung both in English and Polish. Fr. Edward Volz OSPPE, Director of the Shrine, gave a little tour on the recent progress of the contstruction of the new church elevator at our Shrine. The elevator is attached to the Main Church and the Chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa. It will also contain “The Heritage Hall” with memorial trees. The hall will be dedicated to all the victims of Communism and there will be bronze sculptures dedicated to the heroes from these days in Poland – Saint John Paul II, Blessed Jerzy Popieluszko and Venerable Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski.......

On December 9th, Our Lady of Czestochowa Polish School at our Shrine, organized an annual Christmas Bazaar. The Bazaar took place in the Shrine’s Cafeteria. It was also an opportunity to see St. Nicholas, who was giving sweet gifts to all the children. There were many vendors at this fair, who presented many Polish products and decorative items related to the upcoming Christmas. Among many booths there were Christmas tablecloths, olive tree sculptures, jewelry, winter clothing, Christmas wreaths, ornaments, as well as delicious Polish sweets – pastry, cakes and candy – prepared......

“Hope is on the way”, was the theme of our Shrine’s Youth Group Advent Day of Recollection, that took place on Friday, December 7th, 2018. It was an evening of prayer, reflection, and many activities for teenagers. The event started with the Vigil Mass of the Immaculate Conception in Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel. ctober is celebrated as Polish-American heritage month in USA. Therefore, on Sunday October 14, 2018, 85th annual Pulaski Day Parade took place in Philadelphia center city. This year’s parade was very special because it celebrated the 100th anniversary of Poland’s Independence, which was regained in November 1918. There were many Polish groups and organizations that participated in this event, among them of course from American Czestochowa.
