Live Stations of the CrossThere are many different forms of prayer to God. This Lenten season the Czestochowa youth group was privileged to a very special form of prayer: enacting a Live Stations of the Cross.

While doing the Stations of the Cross live is a unique way to bring the Passion before others, it is also an exceptional means of contemplating Jesus' love for humanity.

Spotkanie to przerosło wszelkie oczekiwania.

Zoning Approval for Cemetery Expansion Print E-mail

Cemetery in American Czestochowa The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa announced today that it would be expanding its cemetery by approximately 500 burial plots. The Shrine said it had obtained a zoning permit from the Township of New Britain allowing the installation of burial crypts in portions of the Shrine's existing cemetery which are designated as 'yard' under the Township zoning ordinance. The permit requires that the cemetery maintain a 45 foot planted buffer area in which no burials are permitted and that any above ground structures must be set back a full 100 feet from the property line. The permit also requires that the 45 foot buffer planting be completed before the burial crypt expansion is begun.

Fr. Provincial of the Shrine said "that work will begin as soon as weather permits on the planting within the 45 foot buffer and that the installation of burial crypts in the area behind the 45 foot buffer will begin promptly after the planting is completed."

Fr. Christopher said "this will add substantially to the capacity of our cemetery."

III SUNDAY OF EASTER Print E-mail

 The Gospel  (Lk 24:13-35)

Now that very day two of them were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. He asked them, "What are you discussing as you walk along?" They stopped, looking downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?" And he replied to them, "What sort of things?" They said to him, "The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him. But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel; and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astounded us: they were at the tomb early in the morning and did not find his body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive.
